A sharp contrast to the capital of Minsk, Brest is a city filled with fortress ruins, old culture, and medieval history.
Venture out of the city with trips to Military History Museum of Suvorov (in Kobryn) and Bielaviežskaja pušča National Park (in Kamianiuki). There's still lots to do: learn about all things military at Memorial Complex Brest Hero-Fortress, take in the pleasant sights at Sovetskaya Street, don't miss a visit to Brest Railway Station Building, and take an in-depth tour of Historical and Memorial Museum Nemtsevichi Estate.

The capital city of the region of the same name, Grodno (also called Hrodna) was built around the river flowing through it, and is known as a hub for the arts celebrating both modern and classical culture with three major theaters, a philharmonic society, and a multitude of museums.
Step out of Grodno with an excursion to Wolf Monument in Vawkavysk--about 1h 20 min away. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kalozha Church Boris-Gleb Church, get to know the fascinating history of Sovetskaya Street, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Holy Intercession Cathedral, and delve into the distant past at The Old Castle.

Mir is a town in Kareličy raion, Hrodna Voblast, Belarus on the banks of Miranka River, about 85 kilometers southwest of the national capital, Minsk.Prior to 1939 the town was in Poland.HistoryMir village was founded sometime prior to 1345. Explore Mir's surroundings by going to Nesvizh (City Hall in Nesvizh, Symon Budny Monument, &more), Church of the Assumption (in Novy Svierzan) and St. Joseph's Church (in Rubezhevichi).
