Douglas — 2 nights

The capital and the commercial hub of the island, Douglas represents a traditional seaside resort, booming finance center, and bustling working harbor.
Douglas is known for sightseeing, museums, and nightlife. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: see the interesting displays at Manx Museum, contemplate the long history of The Great Laxey Wheel and Mines Trail, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Snaefell, and explore the historical opulence of Peel Castle.

To find photos, where to stay, other places to visit, and tourist information, go to the Douglas road trip tool.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiports are George Best Belfast City Airport, Belfast International Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport. In June, daily temperatures in Douglas can reach 19°C, while at night they dip to 12°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.

Passionately proud of its history and culture, the Isle of Man boasts the world’s oldest continuous parliament and enjoys a semi-autonomous status within the UK. Islanders have little patience for tourism for most of the year, except for the few summer weeks when the island hosts the world-famous Tourist Trophy (TT) motorcycle racing events. During the height of the season, nearly 50,000 bike enthusiasts bring lots of noise and a bit of chaos to the island’s lush valleys and rugged hills. To enjoy unspoiled nature and undisturbed silence, avoid coming to the island during the bike races, or simply escape deeper into the rolling countryside and away from the crowds in town.
