Rome — 22 nights

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Venture out of the city with trips to Le Palme (in Castel Gandolfo), Golf Club Mare di Roma (in Ardea) and Sabbianera Super Beach (in Anguillara Sabazia). Dedicate the 4th (Thu) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, delve into the distant past at Colosseum, don't miss a visit to Roman Forum, and pause for some serene contemplation at Pantheon.

For more things to do, ratings, where to stay, and other tourist information, refer to the Rome trip itinerary site.

If you are flying in from Puerto Rico, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In July in Rome, expect temperatures between 37°C during the day and 24°C at night.
