Capital city of the eponymous state, Oaxaca relies heavily on its colonial charm, its core a maze of tree-shaded alleys flanked by photogenic mansions, government buildings, and old churches.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzman and Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban. There's still lots to do: hike along Coyote Aventuras, don't miss a visit to Zocalo, examine the collection at Oaxaca Textile Museum, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Soledad.

You can fly from Oaxaca to Huatulco in 3.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Huatulco when traveling from Oaxaca in June, with lows around 74°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sun) so you can catch the flight back home.
