A marvel of modern engineering, Panama Canal stretches for 77 km (48 mi) and links the Pacific with the Atlantic Ocean via the Caribbean Sea. France initiated the construction in 1888, and the United States completed it in 1914; today, it still ranks as one of the largest and most challenging projects of its kind. Over 14,000 vessels pass through the canal's three gravity-powered locks each year, avoiding the much longer route around the tip of South America. Of course go see the canal if you are in Panama. I had the opportunity to board a work boat while on the canal, which is a different perspective. Definitely visit the canal.

Miraflores is a wonderful place to visit the Panama Canal and see this incredible example of engineering. Super easy to get to on the bus too, definitely visit if you are in Panama City.
