Brush up on your botany in an attractive Art Nouveau structure at Cosmovitral Jardin Botanico. Erected in 1910, the building housed a popular market until 1975. The spacious glass and concrete structure was converted into a botanical garden in 1980, and features colorful art by Leopoldo Flores. View over 500 local and international plant species, and marvel at the large stained glass windows and murals. Look for the "Sun Man" glass mural, a symbol of Toluca: depicting a man in harmony with nature, it aligns with the sun on the spring equinox. • The main attraction here is the glassworks and the botanical garden completed the scene. The place is one of those individual art pieces of character. If you are in Toluca you must visit and enjoy the soothing music and the fine glass art. This place used to be a market place then was converted into an attraction. There’s a small Japanese corner/ garden where you can also see some fishes, Jasmine and simple Japanese decorations. The Japanese garden fountain wasn’t working when I visited. I think that you should dedicate perhaps an hour or slightly less to enjoy and give yourself sometime for couple of photographs with artistic backgrounds.
  • A wonderful botanical garden, harboured inside a glass covering designed by Leopoldo Flores in the early 20th century. It has wonderful plants, clear alleyways, well maintained glasses. If you're looking for nature and modern art together, this is the place to visit, in Toluca. Most of the plants, as told in local fore are native to Mexico. Quite a few even compare the beauty of the stained glass with the beauty of the plants within.
