Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe
Explore the massive, elaborate structure of Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe, the central place of worship for the country's patron saint. Located on the spot where the Virgin of Guadalupe allegedly appeared in the 16th century, this structure remains one of Catholicism's major pilgrimage sites, known for housing the cloak of Saint Juan Diego. Erected in the 1970s, the circular church can hold up to 10,000 worshippers and boasts 15,000 niches in its main crypt. The shrine also houses a famous image of the Virgin, considered one of the most important religious depictions in Mexico. Right next to this landmark you can also visit an older church from the 18th century, known for its impressive facade and marble statues. Iconic basicila that has to be visited by everyone. Regardless of your faith, Catholics and non Catholics alike can admire the beauty of the architecture and history of the area. The culture is amazing to learn about and how it shaped the Mexico of today. It'll be more interesting if you have a guide showing you around and explaining everything to you, however going alone is still very interesting to do and you will admire everything the same. Entry is free so you don't have to pay to enter but you can always donate while inside if you'd like. Overall I can wholeheartedly recommend for everyone to visit and experience in your own

You cannot come to Mexico and not visit the Basilica, whether you are a believer or not the experience is unforgettable, hundreds of people visit daily, the process to see the image is quick, easy and free. They have moving floors (as the ones at the airport) so you can go in front of her but don't stop others, I find this to be so much more effective than other places as people cannot "gather" in front of the image and keep you from seeing her, I wish they did that at Museums around the globe. There are plenty of churches and places of worship around and the history behind all these monuments and cathedrals and churches is wonderful. Come early as the later you come the more people arrive and bring money because there plenty of souvenirs and religious articles to purchase
