Admire the ingenuity and artistry on display at Archaeological Zone of Xochicalco, a complex of pre-Columbian structures and buildings. In its heyday, circa 700-900 CE, the old city had a population of around 20,000; most of the buildings on site date from this period. Among the many structures of interest across the large site, the most archaeologically significant is a temple built to honor the Feathered Serpent. Stylized carvings of the deity cover the temple, creating a detailed work of art. • If you do one thing in CV, this should be it. Stunning ruins, excellent museum, beautiful location. Humbling, the technology it took to build, 1,500 years ago

  • Pretty amazing site with lots to see. When we were there it was not crowded which was nice. You can walk through the ruins and read about the various structures. The view from the top is incredible! Highly recommended if you are looking for a historical outing. Bring water, sunscreen, and a wide brim hat as it is hot and very sunny! Museum has many artifacts displayed.
  • Out of many archeological zones we visited during the stay in Mexico, this was definitely the one, that stole our hearts!
