Don a helmet, headlight, coveralls, and a brave face as you prepare to go underground at Modric Cave. This natural cave was first excavated in 1985, but human bones, remnants of Neolithic pottery, and the remains of Holocene fauna (including a cave bear found within the cave) are proof that the site had been used for many years before the recent discovery. You can join a guide to tour the cave's depths, where you'll crawl over and under speleothems. The cave ranges between 2 m (7 ft) and 8 m (26 ft) in both height and width through most passages, reaching a height of 29 m (95 ft) at one point. This cave is absolutely stunning. It was discovered in 1985 and it is incredibly preserved with love and attention by the brilliant tour guides. Mariana and Marijan were absolutely fantastic. They were attentive and informative and ensured we respect the cave and took care of safety. We had a moment to remain in the dark with our lights off as we were sitting at the end of the tour and they shared a lovely reminder of how we need to take care of the earth and leave it the way we found it. Highly recommend doing this tour. An absolute must!

Really cool - unexpectedly cool - experience for the whole family (ages 6, 10, 12)! We found this place on Google Maps and we’re able to book a tour with Marijan via email only the night before (despite being in the low season). Marijan is passionate about the cave and a great guide. Price is ~€25 per person (also kids) but you will understand why and hopefully agree it’s worth every penny. You will contribute to its existence! 🙏🏻
