The former home of one of Croatia's greatest painters, Vlaho Bukovac House provides a look into the creative process of a major 19th-century artist. Bukovac spent his entire childhood in this stone house, noted for its well-preserved architecture and gardens. Though he honed his style in Vienna, Paris, and Prague, the celebrated Realist took his earliest artistic steps while living here with his parents and three siblings. Walk inside to see numerous portraits of Bukovac and his family, and take a peek at his upstairs studio, complete with the artist's old easel, brushes, and paints. Put Vlaho Bukovac House on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Cavtat route app.

  • place where you can learn more about and feel better spirit of this great artist. you should not expect a lot of his emblematic art works but the point is in his family, atmosphere etc.

  • This was a lovely museum. Is located in the house where Vlaho Bukovca was born. His paintings are really nice and the house is also beautiful. You have an audio guide that you can use from your own smartphone. The visit will take you about one hour.
  • Very interesting gallery and history. The lady at the museum was very nice.
