Church of Our Lady of the Snow, Cavtat

nice to visit this but not so impressive. There were cats inside and you can smell their poos when u climb in the Pipe organ area.

The church and monastery are dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Snows after the church on the islet of Mrkan, in front of Cavtat, which was built in the 13th century. st. abandoned by the Benedictines, and in 1377 by the bishops of Trebinje. The monastery was founded in 1484 at the instigation of the Dubrovnik Lesser Friars (in order to establish their own province) and was built in two periods: the Franciscan period (from 1484) and the noble donor Franko Gučetić (from 1502 – the present monastery). The church was built in 1493, it has been in use since 1494, the interior was completed in 1509/1510. The complex is claustral, one-story, rectangular in shape with a church in the east wing and a garden in the north. The cistern in the cloister was built in 1878 for the needs of sailors.
