Create an itinerary including Montezuma Falls
Take a steep but reasonably speedy 20-minute hike up the river, observing small water features, until you reach the majestic Montezuma Falls, a beautiful 24 m (78 ft) high cascade of water. Cool off in the large pool at the base of the falls, which is great for swimming, but too shallow for rock jumping. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, scramble up the rough path on the left side of the falls to a deeper pool and a second waterfall, where you can jump safely. Wear sturdy boots, as you’ll have to navigate across slippery rocks throughout the hike. • We only went to the first one and found it quite pretty. We were too tired to trek further and were happy to sit and enjoy the early morning birds and trickling water. I'm sure it would be even nicer....  more

  • This is awesome! Waterfall number 3 (the most upper one) was our favorite because of the nice swimming place with a nice height jump to get in. If you're a badass fan of tall jumps you can try the jump onto pond number 2. It looks crazy, but people seem to love it.
  • Great waterfall & multiple swimming holes! A bit of a climb and slippery rocks, but great rope locations to help along the way. Being from Florida and not hiking much it was a bit of a hike but we made it to the top of the second waterfall and it’s beautiful! We’ll worth the work! I Ayer is amazing! Great day trip. Bring lunch and enjoy the day in the fresh water!
