More than 20 million people call Cairo their home and, as soon as you set foot in the sprawling metropolis, it's evident they make it crowded and chaotic, but also exuberant and charming.
Mastaba of Ti and Church of St Sergius and Bacchus will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Zamalek (Gezira Island) and Step Pyramid of Djoser. Change things up with a short trip to Pyramids of Dahshour in Giza (about 1h 5 min away). The adventure continues: contemplate the long history of Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan, take in the spiritual surroundings of Al-Azhar Mosque, admire the striking features of Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary), and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cave Church.
