As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Beijing is known for historic sites, sightseeing, trails, museums, and shopping. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: trek along Great Wall at Mutianyu, take an in-depth tour of Forbidden City-The Palace Museum, admire the landmark architecture of Tower of Buddhist Incense(Summer Palace), and steep yourself in history at Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang).

Playa del Carmen, Mexico to Beijing is an approximately 27-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 13 hours traveling from Playa del Carmen to Beijing. In July in Beijing, expect temperatures between 37°C during the day and 26°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Shanghai.

With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
On the 20th (Thu), enjoy breathtaking views from Shanghai World Financial Center, then enjoy breathtaking views from Jin Mao Tower, then admire the landmark architecture of Oriental Pearl Tower (Dongfang Mingzhu), and finally get to know the fascinating history of The Bund (Wai Tan). Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: don't miss a visit to Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road), examine the collection at Shanghai Museum, and then admire the natural beauty at Yu Garden (Yuyuan).

Getting from Beijing to Shanghai by flight takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. Traveling from Beijing in July, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 30°C in Shanghai. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sat) early enough to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Start off your visit on the 22nd (Sat): take a stroll through Gion. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 23rd (Sun): step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, then steep yourself in history at Ishibe Alley, and finally steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Shanghai to Kyoto in 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry. The time zone difference moving from China Standard Time (CST) to Japan Standard Time (JST) is 1 hour. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Mon) early enough to travel to Tokyo.

Take a train from Kyoto to Tokyo in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Traveling from Kyoto in July, expect nights in Tokyo to be about the same, around 29°C, while days are little chillier, around 33°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Mexico City.
