Hike up to Tepozteco, the ancient Aztec temple dedicated to Tepoztecatl, the god of the pulque drink. Overlooking the rustic village of Tepoztlan, known for its Mezcal production, the archaeological site consists of a 10 m (33 ft) high, pyramid-shaped temple perched on a sheer clifftop. On the strenuous uphill trek to the temple, you will pass through lush green rainforest, see waterfalls and rock formations, and perhaps spot the elusive coati. When you reach the pyramid, you will be rewarded with a vista of the town and verdant rainforest below. It's a great challenge to get up there, but with the right stops to take a breath and drink something it's also great fun and exercise. We took our 1.5 year old baby, which means 10 extra kilos in...

A very long, exhausting hike but totally worth it. Wear good shoes and go at your own pace! The top is breathtaking!! Be careful if you bring any food...the coati's will steal it (but that was kind of the best part!!)
Most people come here to visit the pyramid which is on top of a steep mountain trail on the cliff. If you are decently fit, it takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours to go up top. Sometimes it takes 3 hours or more depending on how fast you climb. Below the mountain, there are many artifact shops and restaurants and its a nice place to hangout.
