Plaza de Armas, Queretaro City

#1 of 13 in Historic Sites in Queretaro City
Historic Site · Tourist Spot
Head to the heart of Queretaro's historic center at Plaza de Armas, a bustling town square. Surrounded by 18th century architecture, the square represents a good point from which to view the city's colonial manors and mansions. A photographer's eye will be drawn to the open aspect of the square, in contrast to the often cramped streets around the historic center. Choose from a number of atmospheric restaurants, bars, and cafes, which line the square and offer alfresco wining and dining. The square's central fountain is topped by a statue of Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, the nobleman and benefactor who funded so much of the city's development.
