Head to the surfer's paradise of Playa Zicatela, a long sandy beach offering the famous waves of the Mexican Pipeline. Stick to the northern end of the beach for the best surfing spots, and the majority of the beach's hip cafes, restaurants, and accommodations. Beginners and those looking for a little more quiet will want to head to the south of the 3 km (1.9 mi) beach, where the surf still presents a challenge, but is more suitable for newcomers to the sport. Don't head out into the waters without a board, as the undertow isn't safe for swimmers. Put Playa Zicatela into our Puerto Escondido trip itinerary maker site and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Here they have even banned straws and plástic bags in most places. At least...... Don't let it become like Acapulco. more »

This mega-wave gets up to 10 meters high in summer and attracts numerous surfers. Playa Zicatela is not particularly suitable for swimming and you should be careful when you go into the water. But the sunsets at Playa Zicatela are wonderful, which are especially romantic for two. Along Playa Zicatela you will find various restaurants and bars to provide you with food and drinks.
Exceptional place for surfers, almost surfer paradise. For regular swimmers waves are very strong and can be dangerous. Climate is demasiado hot
Wow. Clean! They are very serious about keeping beaches nice here. Some good surf spots and others with some brutal waves.
