Take a short drive out of Cancun to Xcaret, where ecologically oriented activities cater to visitors of all ages. The theme park gets its name from a nearby settlement once inhabited by the pre-Columbian Maya, and some of the original village's structures remain. The park's 81 hectare (20 acre) grounds also contain a coral reef aquarium, bird and butterfly pavilions, bat cave, deer shelter, and a greenhouse designed to protect and display delicate orchids and bromeliads. Aiming to entertain both adults and children, the park's nature-based activities include snorkeling with sea turtles and swimming with dolphins. Check the official website for ticket discounts and a complete listing of special performances and family-friendly activities. We had an amazing time here but the underground river was closed. We were disappointed with that but the rest of the park was amazing. You can see a jaguar, huge turtles and the evening show is... more »

I loved Xcaret. There are literally things to do for everyone. The food quality is phenomenal. You can enjoy yourself there even if you don't do any of the activities. They have a small zoo and some private beaches you can chill at as well. The service of the workers is top notch. You can tell they focus on providing a great experience for the guests. Don't miss out on the night show because it is 40% of the overall experience. 5/5 stars
This place is not for the faint of heart. What I mean by that is that you will need to be hydrated and ready to walk, A LOT! There is so much to do and honestly may take two days to actually enjoy it all. The top moment for me was the river that you float along for about an hour and a half. Depending on how fast you swim, but I recommend just floating along. Lot of animals and sightseeing and a good buffet.
