Take a short drive out of Cancun to Xcaret, where ecologically oriented activities cater to visitors of all ages. The theme park gets its name from a nearby settlement once inhabited by the pre-Columbian Maya, and some of the original village's structures remain. The park's 81 hectare (20 acre) grounds also contain a coral reef aquarium, bird and butterfly pavilions, bat cave, deer shelter, and a greenhouse designed to protect and display delicate orchids and bromeliads. Aiming to entertain both adults and children, the park's nature-based activities include snorkeling with sea turtles and swimming with dolphins. Check the official website for ticket discounts and a complete listing of special performances and family-friendly activities. Make sure you plan out what you're doing beforehand. The horse show is worth seeing because there's not much of them during the night show. All other shows aren't really worth seeing separate from the night show. This park is definitely this place to go if you're visiting Cancun. Super unique experiences. Make sure you swim the underground river. Doesn't really matter which you take. If you think you can figure out how to use flippers, I would get some for the river because they make swimming the river much easier and fast. Then you just give them back at the end of the river along with getting your belongings back. Besides that, seeing all the animals is cool. You see flamingos and macaws right when you enter and there are animals spread throughout the park. There's a lot else to do, I wouldn't recommend doing an extra activity if you don't want to spend too much money but that's up to you. There's just so much to do in the base package. Xcaret plus is worth it, the lunch buffet was amazing and delicious. I'd recommend point 20 to have lunch at. There was tons of food variety and a lot of it.

Immerse yourself in underground rivers of fresh, crystalline waters that are born from the inside of the earth. Swim through a maze of caves and tunnels, lit by natural light from air vents. You can see coral formations fossilized on the rock during the trip, proving that this place was part of the sea millions of years ago. There are three underground rivers in Xcaret to choose from: the Blue River, the Mayan River, and the Manatee River. The three of them flow into the sea, next to mangroves inhabited by pink flamingos. Discover the unique beauty of each one!
