  • I haven't been in a cave in years. It is challenging at times but our guide was awesome. She was knowledgeable and respectful. I (63 years old) took a walking stick and she helped me at many spots. I've never swam in a cave until that day. We had the bellybutton tour. I believe there are six different tours available. We made the mistake of wearing jeans and sneakers not knowing the drill. You don't need jeans or sneakers, too hot. You do have to walk about 5 minutes or so to the cave in water shoes though. The only complaint I have is this. They have photographer take pictures inside the cave at different spots and then have you purchase them for ridiculous amount of money. We didn't buy any. After the tour they treat you to Mexican lunch.I would highly recommend it. I claim this as my high light of my resort trip to Mexico.
  • One of the most memorable experiences I have had traveling (international and local). These caves are so beautiful and the guides are really amazing, knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was so interesting learning about the geology and ecosystem of the area, not to mention a thoughtful regard to Mayan and indigenous practices/beliefs to these caves. After the tour they serve you a buffet lunch (which in my opinions was pretty tasty and filling after a long day of hiking). Overall it was a really great experience and most of the money they make from your ticket and purchases go towards fair wages and maintaining the integrity and stability of the caves/nature reserve. An absolute must for travelers who want an unforgettable experience and a healthy appreciation for the environment!
