Punta Venado Bike Park Reviews
Hi is there somewhere that rents mtb if you wish to use the park? This is my first time traveling to Cancun.... more »
What a pleasant surprise. I have been an avid mountain biker for some time and didn't have any expectations as I knew the area was flat but Alberto and his crew have been working on this park for over... more »
You will not be disappointed. Great fun with some very technical parts of rock and roots on the black trails. Even the blues can have some challenging problems of rock an root but not sustained. Great jumps on trail and some super berms. Gets you off the beaten track to a ranch that gives you a glimpse into what the area used to be like. Quiet. Bikes are nice and well kept. Bring your shoes and pedals or use their flats. Cenote swim was super nice. If your with some friends that don’t ride there is horseback riding too. It is flat to rolling so you have to pedal! I did 10 miles and was tired! Great to rip around. Traveling with sloths that don’t get going until 11? They open at 7am. Have a ride and be home before they get up. I don’t know how they keep the jungle at bey must be constant efforts. Joel was a great host. Highly recommended.
Note: every skill level of rider should do the black trail with cenotes. Just hike your bike if it's too technical. Gorgeous and unique cenotes you will want to spend time admiring. Techy gnar, jungle vines & roots, centoes to explore, a beach vista trail. Several "features" but I prefer skinny natural winding, dropping trails in trees to skinnies & concrete gap jumps (they have all of the above). No downhill but a few medium dips. Ridiculously fun to rip laps on greens. The furthest black was a bit too technical (rocky, turny) for me to get momentum on at times, but that may have just been my skill level. More type 2 fun on that one. Don't let the heat or humidity of the area put you off, the coastal wind and shade from trees make it fantastic. You will sweat, bring water & electrolytes, but it's not uncomfortable. At this date it is $1400 MXN for entrance & full suspension bike rental all day, but goes towards trail making and upkeep. I spent 6 hours there at a price less than a scuba dive and we had the place to ourselves most of the day. No pushy tourist garbage, just water, cookies, decent bikes, good service and incredible flora & fauna. If you want to go and your group/partner isn't as enthusiastic there is a beach club down the road. I think they can hike the cenote loop for a small fee too. Get the full suspension and prepare for pedal ratcheting. Its rocky. And an absolute blast!
