Soak up the local culture and the welcoming atmosphere of San Angel, an old colonial neighborhood in the capital. Formerly a village, the district has been incorporated into the city, yet managed to retain its simple, dusty elegance and pokey cobblestone streets. Browse the stores and market stalls selling trinkets, fresh fruit and vegetables, and locally made clothes. A walk along the streets reveals several architectural highlights, including colonial-era churches with Baroque interiors and neoclassical mansions.
