  • It is located right next to the Fonoteca Nacional so it can be combined very well with a joint visit. The museum does not have parking. Admission is free except if you want to take photos you must pay 50 pesos. The museum has a beautiful garden adorned with flowers and sculptures. The main building houses three watercolor exhibition halls. I don't think it merits the term National, but it's still a visitor-worthy museum. The exhibitions contain beautiful paintings, of all kinds, from portraits, landscapes, scenes, very well painted. The museum also has a large gallery with paintings for sale starting from 10,000 pesos. There's practically everything. There are painting workshops and I was able to observe many people of all ages. The place has a café but was under remodeling.

  • This place is absolutely amazing. We discovered it walking through Coyoacan streets and the value of it is indescribable. It is a must!
  • a tad small, not crowded, free entry (donations welcome of course) although you have to pay 50 pesos for a photography permit i think, the rooms dedicated to prehispanic and 19th century art are absolutely precious though small, the museum cafe is well-priced (amusing to see gangs of sparrows nibble tortilla crisps), there are also a few stone statues/sculptures around (based on prehispanic styles eg mayan) which are quite lovely as well it definitely takes less than an hour to finish going through the museum, leaving you time to explore other museums in the area personally i think watercolour is an expressive medium for depicting qualities of light and colour, such as the unfathomable gentleness of white-pink roses. it also lends itself to styles such as abstract art and cubism. overall worth a visit
