Considered the last big Mayan civilization before the arrival of the Spanish, Mayapan Mayan Ruins remains relatively unvisited. There are over 4,000 structures to view practically on your own within the surrounding 9 km (5.5 mi) stone wall. The site does not have any restrictions, so you can photograph the ancient dwellings to your heart’s desire. Be sure to walk through the ceremonial center where temples, halls, shrines, platforms, and altars can be found, or take the time to climb to the top of the pyramid and view the site from above. • The archaeological area is located very close to Merida, has parking area and bathrooms. On Sundays admission is free to Mexican tourism showing its INE. The ruins are very impressive and feature a main pyramid, an observatory and a cenote similar to those of Chichen Itza but smaller. Access to climb the pyramids is allowed only that the stepis are very mistreated and can be risky. Definitely worth knowing
