Step back in time on a tour of Hacienda Sotuta de Peon, an 18th century agave plant estate. The farm is still functional, having been restored in the 1980s, and is dedicated to promoting sustainability. More than 80 Mayan families work on the farm. Explore the main house to see how a rich agave plantation owner used to live, ride on wooden platform trucks and admire the spacious estate, and see first-hand the process of transforming the plant into ropes, sacks, and yarn. After the tour, you can bathe in the crystal clear waters of the natural underground cenotes, or enjoy traditional Mexican cuisine at the restaurant. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Merida holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

... more »You can not be in Mexico do not visit the real hacienda. Hacjenda Sotuta de Peon is suitable for this, it owes its heyth NINETEENTH-century demand for "green gold" or sisal. It brought the flowering of the local ranches and wealth to their owners. The farmland was full of agave from which Sisal was produced, and above all, the ropes and ships of the ship (today we use it m.in. In the Drapers for Cats). Today in the hacienda we can see a richly equipped house of owners with a characteristic veranda with a beautiful view of the garden. We will see the process of production of sisal, and a special wagon pulled on rails by the mule will pass through the plantation among the agave which is the economic foundation of the Hacienda. The route also leads to a cenot in which you can relax from the heat-it is called a refreshing bath. There is also a restaurant on site. And how: Also worth a visit. A great place to show a piece of the history of Yucatanu. Highly recommended!
