Visit one of the oldest universities in Latin America, University of Guanajuato. The university proudly traces its history back to the 18th century, when it originally opened as a Jesuit school for children. Becoming state-run in 1828, the university has spread throughout the city, with its main building located in the historic center of town. Built in the mid-1900s, the main building has a staircase of 113 stone steps, and displays a neoclassical architectural style.   • The public observatory on the roof terrace is a fantastic facility. The astronomers are friendly and very informative. Take a tour around the galaxy, through the excellent telescopes, you won't be disappointed. A must visit and also free!
