Cenote Ik kil, Chichen Itza

4.3
#1 of 65 in Parks in Yucatan
Swim in sacred Mayan waters at Cenote Ik kil, a naturally formed water basin, 60 m (200 ft) in diameter and located 26 m (85 ft) below ground level. Twinkling, clear waters fill the pool, decorated by hanging vines cascading from the treetops above. Step down the ornately carved limestone stairway to reach the swimming platform, where refreshing 35 m (114.8 ft) deep waters await. Keep your eyes out for the shoal of black catfish that call the cenote their home--don’t worry, they don’t bite. When you’re feeling rejuvenated, enjoy a bite to eat at one of the surrounding restaurants. Arrange to visit Cenote Ik kil and other attractions in Chichen Itza using our Chichen Itza trip planner .

  • Another place you need to visit. They have a restaurant and before getting into the cenote you have to rinse off.  more »
  • It's very, very impressive!! I recommend you go early to see the majesty that light provides by reflecting on the water and it is also likely that fewer people will go as in the afternoon people crowd up. The water is very cold!! but it doesn't take away the interesting of that natural beauty, inside the cenote there are ropes to be able to grip yourself while you swim and there are also stairs where from there you can plow a few dives!

  • Great place for those who want to go swimming in cenotes. They have a raised place from where people can dive in. Organized and awesome experience. Restrooms need a lot of work. Modern but mostly dysfunctional. At least the men's restrooms are Didn't try the buffet but it was 180$. Should be worth the money for those willing to try it. We went to the snack bar. Sandwiches were huge but bland. But then that's how club sandwiches are. The chicken tacos were disappointingly bland. Had to eat eat bite with jalapenos. Mojito wasn't any good either. Barely any alcohol, if it had any, and was just like drinking a virgin drink. The service from the staff was good.
  • One of my favorite cenotes!! Great location, restaurant for after good food, and great price! Entrance only couple dollars.
