Deep Life Divers Reviews
I did 3 dives in one day including one deep dive (The Pit) and two shallow dives at Dos Ojos (The Bat Cave and The Barbie Line). They were all wonderful and unlike anything I have ever seen scuba... more »
What an awesome company to go diving with! Firstly the booking experience was effortless, including organising payment while not in the country. We divided as a group of 3, one of my friends was... more »
Had an amazing experience diving with Eduardo's Deep Life Divers group. We were staying at a hotel in Riviera Maya and did 3 dive days at 3 different locations: Cozumel, Puerto Morelos and in Cenotes. These were well organized by Eduardo after we sent him an email to request info and options a few weeks before our trip. We chose the pickup service so the drivers came to our hotel and delivered us to our dive location. Pickup at our hotel in their comfortable van with everything well orchestrated to get us to and from. We used the ferry to Cozumel, and met our dive master Manuel who picked us up and brought us to the marina. The two other dive sites were on the main land and transit was door to door. Including transportation with Deep Life was definitely easier than a taxi and we'd do that again for sure. Each of the drivers and dive masters were professional and friendly. (We did miss seeing Eduardo Sr. though whom we met a couple of years ago diving in Cozumel) We dove with Manuel a couple of years ago in Cozumel and it was great to dive with him again! He took us through areas of great coral and shared a fun encounter with a friendly nurse shark (his Puppy, as he calls it;). In Puerto Morelos we did two dives (one wreck, one coral drift) with Dive Master Miguel. Miguel has a natural fun loving way to lead your dives and we would dive with him any time. We loved this little fishing village and laid back vibe made it all the more enjoyable. At the Cenotes, we dove The Pit and Two Eyes with Dive Master Israel. That was our first time cavern diving in Mexico and it was nothing short of was amazing! Israel is a true expert at this type of diving and we had a great time exploring the two locations with him. We really enjoyed The Cenotes and will definitively go back. We intend to dive with Deep Life again and make them our go-to shop for all our future dives in Quintana Roo! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND these guys
I wish I could have shared in the great experiences that others say they experienced, but I just can't. It's amazing how one person can ruin what was supposed to be a great day with my son. If I could separate the transportation with the actual diving, I'd give the diving at least 4 stars and the transportation a one star. We were staying at the Riu Palace Costa Mejures, North of Cancun and I wanted to share the beautiful waters of Cozumel with my son, for his first ocean diving experience. Eduardo had all the right things to say during our emails earlier, before we arrived in Cancun. All was set to be picked up at our hotel at 6:15 am and drive to Playa del Carmen to catch the 8:00 ferry. The driver was 10 min late picking us up and took another 2 min potty break on the way to the ferry. We got to the ferry at 7:50 am or so and our driver told us to wait at the dock. He came back at 8:01 am and told us we missed the 8:00 am ferry and took us up to a place to sit to wait for the 9:00 am ferry. Problem was, there was no 9:00 ferry with Winjet! We emailed Eduardo. That turned into a 9:30 am ferry. We were instructed to wait for Manuel at a specific place once we got to Cozumel. At 10:15 we arrive in Cozumel and are one of the first people to leave the boat. We got to our meeting place and guess what, no Manuel. I had to email Eduardo yet again to let him know. Manuel shows up about 15 min later after Eduardo told him we were there but he wasn't. Turns out Manuel was looking for us on the yellow ferry and we were on the orange ferry. Now, do the math. If the driver had picked us up at 6:15 am, as arranged, we would have made the ferry and the day would have gone as planned. Being 12 minutes late set the snowball in motion that would literally delay our day substantially. That one action first thing in the morning, caused a number of issues to cascade into what became a very rushed day. We CHOSE the lazier day in order to reduce my stress but instead, it amplified it. The dives themselves were late. The boat of about 8 other divers gave us the stink eye when we arrived since this whole ordeal also delayed everyone else's dives too! Like it was our fault. I had to explain to them that the driver, who is hired by Eduardo, was late and that his actions caused the entire failure. I can't explain enough how rushed I felt all day as each driver drove like they were at Daytona, trying to get us to our destination in time to get the ferry (and still was late!) Eduardo apologized twice on the phone to me for the inconveniences we received. I appreciate the thoughts but Carlos, the driver, turned our relaxing day into something rushed and hectic. Do mistakes happen? Sure. But this was completely avoidable but for one person's inability to arrive on time first thing in the morning, for pick up. Also, the equipment used looks like it's been around for more than a year or two. There was salt corrosion on a number of metal items, including the first stage, octopus and connectors of a number of the tanks. The BCD's appear to be about 5 years or more old and there wasn't a matching pair of regulators in the bunch. I've been on many dive trips and excursions. This one was not what I would consider being near the top experiences simply based on just getting transportation arranged correctly. As mentioned, the actual diving was great but I paid $430 USD for two of us (almost $600 CDN) and I've paid a lot less and got a whole lot more elsewhere. I would not recommend this dive excursion and will go elsewhere next time I'm in Cozumel or Cancun.
