Vallarta Botanical Gardens, Cabo Corrientes

#1 of 73 in Parks in Jalisco
Inspect a wonderfully vibrant variety of plants at Vallarta Botanical Gardens, an environmentally minded site set on 8 ha (20 ac) of native forest and perfectly manicured landscape. Hike the extensive trails through the flora, and keep one eye on the canopy looking out for exotic birds, especially at the beginning or end of the day. It's worth bringing some bug spray and considering wearing long trousers and sleeves to protect against biting insects. Be sure to bring some swimwear and a towel so you can cool off with a dip in the Rio Horcones. • Beautiful garden. Interesting journey to setting. Should have spent more time. Would recommend at least two hours.  more »

  • Such a wonderful place, I enjoyed it immensely! I only wish I had come earlier so I could have spent more time there. I was there for 4.5 hours and that gave me time for the guided orientation, a hike on the Jaguar trail, a swim in the river, some strolling around and lunch at the beautiful hacienda. Next time I will see more of the gardens and relax in some of the hidden spots. In January, the river wasn't cold and it was crystal clear. The Jaguar trail was not long and quite an easy trail for those who hike. I really enjoyed seeing the jungle up close. It was a highlight to see cacoa pods and vanilla beans growing! The displays are very creative and beautiful. I especially loved the succulents surrounded by lava rock. I took the bus there from old town, which was 30 pesos each way. The bus was a fun experience! I highly recommend a visit to this gem of a place, I hope I get to go back one day.
  • Truly stunning botanical gardens. Wide variety of trails, paths, gardens, housed plants, along with a main building with good restaurant, small bar, veranda, and gift shop. Well worth a day for bird's as well as plants. Bring plenty of water (I couldn't find a drinking fountain or bottle refill station) as well as bug repellent. Delightful place to wander.
