Kirkjubour Cathedral, Kirkjubour

Hike up the hill to Kirkjubour Cathedral, reputedly the largest medieval building on the islands. The 1300 church lacks a roof, which is nothing new: in fact, the building was never completed. Still, poking around here will reveal lots of details about ancient architecture and construction. Pause to take in the views of the rest of the island, as well as other smaller islands nearby. • Here we came by an event to snack at the parking lot. But there was so much more than just a church at a quay. Historically interesting village to see and hike in. Think that the farm has been run by the same family for 17 generations. There are rooms where you can eat their picnic lunch plus toilets. All completely free
