Dating as far back as the 17th century BCE, Step Pyramid of Djoser remains among the world's oldest monumental masonry structures. Possibly the tallest building at the time of its completion, the step-pyramid and its surrounding complex of buildings were built by Imhotep, the high priest and advisor to the Pharaoh Djoser. Take a guided tour of the pyramid, along with the rest of the Saqqara necropolis structures, to find out more about the historic monument and capture some striking photographs of the site. • YOU MUST DO THIS PYRAMID My favorite of an 8 hour pyramids tour I did. No, it's not the largest, but it's the oldest and wasn't very crowded at all. It's part of a larger mortuary complex which contains a temple and beautiful tombs. A smaller pyramid is on site which you can enter and see the hieroglyphs.
  • Nice place to spend a couple of hours exploring. Besides the pyramid, there's many tombs and other sites of archeological value in the immediate vicinity. At the time of my visit (January 2019), there was some restoration work ongoing on the pyramid (with scaffolding, etc...) making it less impressive than what it could be. But worth a visit anyway.
