Suez Canal, Port Said

4.5
#1 of 7 in Things to do in Port Said
Must see · Water Body · Nature / Park
A monumental waterway stretching 120 miles, Suez Canal was built between 1850 and 1869 to connect the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. The passage through the canal saves travelers 7,000 km (4,300 mi) between the two seas. Watch convoys of boats and ships pass as the canal carries vehicles and cargo across. Along part of the waterway there's a memorial on the banks and two bridges from the Arab and Israeli wars during the 1960s and 1970s.
