Mallawi Museum is a museum of Egyptian antiquities in Mallawi, Minya Governorate, Upper Egypt.

The museum was established in 1963 to house finds from local excavations and held an important collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts until it was looted in August 2013. Over 1000 pieces were stolen or destroyed in the looting but around half of those have since been recovered.

  • This museum is fairly new, adjacent to the old ferry at Amarna. The items from ancient Khmunu (Ashmunein) are well presented and there is a replica of a house that you can wander through.  more »
  • Well restored after the tragedy of its sacking...Well signed displays, generally well-lighted and lovely. Covers the area's archeology from pre-dynastic all the way through Islamic arts. Well worth a....  more »
  • Restored after being sacked during the Arab Spring. Individual articles need to be labeled and attributed. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
