Plaza de Armas, Havana

World heritage site · Landmark · Tourist Spot
Enjoy the historic and peaceful Plaza de Armas, and walk upon its unusual wooden-brick pavings, originally put in place to prevent the sounds of horses' hooves as they walked through the square. A great place to pick up souvenirs and knick knacks (there is a daily second-hand book market every day except Sundays), the square also serves as a picturesque setting to simply take in the sights. Take a seat and watch life go by in the square, lined with palm trees and showcasing amazing architecture. You can als pop into plenty of restaurants and bars in the surrounding area for refreshments. To visit Plaza de Armas on your trip to Havana, use our Havana trip builder.
