The summit allows views of the volcano’s main crater, with views of the surrounding mountainous landscape. Visit the secondary crater, Diego de la Haya, to view its mineral-rich lake. The areas around the crater are barren, giving visitors the feeling of being in an alien landscape. With more than 2,023 hectares (5,000 acres) in the national park, it is home to montane forests and animal life including armadillos, owls, foxes, and a variety of birds. • Come early. So around 8am there are only few people. Be prepared with closed shoes and warm dress. It’s cold! 10 degrees and hard wind. Sadly there is no more water inside the crater. But it’s still.....  more »
  • The fence around the volcano was so far that you can’t see anything, only black sand away from the volcano. To top it off, they charge for parking in addition to entrance fee. Don’t loose your time.....  more »

  • It can’t be missed, a must visit! It’s a treat for people of all ages. Be sure to carry warm cloths, it gets windy and usually due to altitude, it’s remains cold. Best time to visit is before noon. There are two craters where mineral rich water can be observed. The view point is accessible from outside which is a little climb from car parking else you can stroll along the barricades to view the volcanos.
  • A must-see. We loved it. We almost didn't go because many reviews said they only allowed you to be at the peak for 15 to 20 minutes, and that it was too pricey, overcrowded and that there wasn't much to be seen, but we found all of those statements to be false. It's 15 dollars to get in, you can stay as long as you wish, it's so large I found it find it hard to believe it would be overcrowded (we were there in high season), and the views are incredible (see pictures). The only warning I would give is: don't go on a cloudy day, because that would probably impair your view of the volcano.
